Supporting Our Local Community

At the Shelford Group, Western Australia is more than where we work. It’s our home.

We believe in supporting the people, organisations and communities that make WA such a special place to live. From helping children and families access life-changing services to supporting local sporting clubs and raising awareness for important causes, giving back has always been close to our hearts.

Through the generosity of our team, clients, families, friends, suppliers and subcontractors, we’re proud to make a difference together.

A Cause Close to Our Hearts

Supporting TSH (Teach, Speak, Hear) and Telethon Since 2019

Some partnerships begin with a sponsorship. Ours began with a personal connection.

In 2019, one of our team members was navigating concerns about their child’s speech development when their primary school recommended TSH, then known as Telethon Speech & Hearing.

Through that experience, we came to understand just how important TSH’s work is for Western Australian children and families. When you’re worried about your child’s development, having somewhere to turn for guidance, reassurance and specialist support can mean everything.

With another close connection to someone working within the organisation, we gained an even greater appreciation for the people, programs and values behind TSH.

What began with small donations in 2019 has grown into one of the Shelford Group’s most meaningful community commitments.

Every year, our support has grown, with our staff, families, friends, suppliers, subcontractors and industry partners coming together to help raise funds and awareness.

In 2025, together we contributed more than $70,000 to Telethon and TSH — our biggest fundraising achievement to date.

Our annual Loud Shirt Day celebrations have become a much-loved Shelford tradition. From colourful outfits and friendly competition to fundraising events and the generosity of our supporters, it’s a day that brings our entire Shelford community together for something truly worthwhile.

But for us, it’s about much more than fundraising.

It’s about helping children find their voice, giving families access to the support they need and making sure more Western Australians have the opportunity to thrive.

We’re incredibly proud of how far this partnership has come, and even prouder of the people who continue to make it possible.

Supporting Mental Health and Suicide Prevention

Starting Conversations That Matter

Mental health and suicide prevention are causes that have touched the lives of many within the Shelford team.

We know the importance of looking out for one another, staying connected and recognising when someone may need support.

Through our involvement with organisations and initiatives including Lifeline WA, R U OK? and the Blue Tree Project, we’re proud to help raise awareness, encourage meaningful conversations and support the important work being done across Western Australia.

Sometimes, making a difference starts with a simple conversation.

Supporting Local Sport

Bringing Communities Together Through Sport

Sport is a big part of life in Western Australia, and it’s certainly a big part of life at Shelford.

We believe local sporting clubs do more than bring people together on game day. They create friendships, encourage teamwork, build confidence and provide a sense of belonging for people of all ages.

Over the years, we’ve proudly supported sporting clubs and community teams across Perth and the South West, including:

  • Cockburn City Soccer Club
  • Fremantle Dockers Football Club
  • Cockburn Cricket Club, Cavaliers
  • North Fremantle Amateur Football Club
  • South Fremantle Football Club
  • East Freamntle Cricket Club
  • Bunbury Masters Swimming Club
  • Hurricane Paddling Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoe Club
  • Melville Junior Football Club
  • Secret Harbour Surf Life Saving Club
  • Braves Baseball Club
  • Peel Pool Association
  • Edgewater / Woodvale Junior Football Club, The Eagles

Proudly Purple — Our Partnership With the Fremantle Dockers

If there’s one thing that gets the Shelford office talking, it’s football!

We’ve got passionate Fremantle Dockers supporters, equally passionate West Coast Eagles supporters and plenty of friendly rivalry between them. Some of our team would happily bleed purple, while others wouldn’t dream of swapping their blue and gold.

But one thing we can all agree on is our pride in supporting Western Australian sport.

As a long-standing corporate partner of the Fremantle Dockers, we’re proud to stand behind a club that shares many of the values we believe in — resilience, determination, teamwork and a fiercely competitive spirit.

Like any great team, the Dockers know that success doesn’t always come easily. It’s about backing each other, working hard, overcoming challenges and continuing to push forward.

Those are qualities we understand and admire at Shelford.

Over the years, our relationship with the Dockers has grown beyond sponsorship, with the club also supporting Shelford and our community initiatives.

In 2025, that relationship reached another milestone when Shelford Constructions completed the major expansion of the Dockers’ facilities at Cockburn ARC, including new football and changeroom facilities designed to support the club and the wider community.

It was a proud moment for our team to contribute to the future of a club we’ve supported for so many years.

And while the office rivalry between purple and blue and gold will no doubt continue, our commitment to supporting WA sport remains stronger than ever.
